Green Light for Swansea Interchange

The redevelopment of the Quadrant Bus Station has succeeded to secure Welsh Assembly Funding approval. The funding is being delivered by the Welsh Assembly Government in the form of a Transport Grant and an ERDF Convergence Fund from the Welsh European Funding Office.

The new state of the art design from Jefferson Sheard Architects is a significant improvement upon that of the existing bus and coach interchange and will provide a modern, safe passenger friendly environment.

Works started on site on the 15th June 2009 and will take approximately 15 months to complete.

John Hague, Cabinet Member for the Environment in Swansea Council said, "Swansea is now getting national recognition for the work that has been done so far improving the city's transport infrastructure. It's essential that we are given every opportunity to continue this work....Providing residents and visitors to Swansea with excellent public transport services is key to beating city centre congestion and improving the environment."

Jefferson Sheard has worked closely with the Council, bus operators, and local businesses to plan the programme of works to ensure minimum disruption to the public.

The development will now be the top priority for City and County of Swansea.  The scheme has been designed to completely transform the existing bus station and will provide public transport users with a new, ultra modern transport hub.
