It’s a Yes to a New Sustainable Future!
Jefferson Sheard Architects’ designs for the proposed new Sustainable and Environmental Technologies Centre (SETC) at Calderdale College have been given planning consent by Calderdale Borough Council
The SETC will incorporate a broad variety of sustainable technologies and aims to promote the College’s presence to Local and Business Communities, students and other stakeholders. As well as addressing the green agenda, the new building will enhance the College’s Construction and Engineering Facilities by including Electrical and Plumbing Workshops, replacement Brick Workshops, and remodelled Painting and Decorating accommodation.
Both Calderdale College and Jefferson Sheard Architects are delighted to receive planning approval for this third phase of the Calderdale College Masterplan following their successful realisation of the dynamic Inspire Centre, which was completed in 2011 and has recently been Highly Commended at the 2012 Halifax Civic Trust Awards.
John Barrott, Head of Estates and Facilities at the College said “We are very pleased to have renewed our partnership with Jefferson Sheard Architects to develop the design of the third phase of our campus redevelopment.
JSA have been instrumental in supporting the College and actively working with Calderdale Council to ensure the £6m development received full planning permission, enabling work to start on site as programmed in September 2012.”
Jefferson Sheard expects the SETC to build upon the success of the Think Low Carbon Centre, designed by the practice for Barnsley College which has won several awards for sustainability since it opened its doors earlier this year.
