McDonald's Now On-site at Markham Vale!

April saw work begin on-site at the first of the Western plots in Markham Vale. The drive-through restaurant was designed by RIBA Chartered practice Jefferson Sheard Architects for Henry Boot Developments’ blue chip tenant, McDonalds.

Markham Vale West is part of a £250 million new business park off dedicated new junction 29A of the M1 which is set to bring £130 million of private investment to the area. The park is one of a small number of Enterprise Zones that have been chosen to benefit from a potential pool of £300 million of Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA).

Each individually designed development by Jefferson Sheard Architects on the Western site at Markham Vale will adopt sustainable technologies, allowing them to generate significant energy from renewable sources.

Mark Fannon, Director of Jefferson Sheard, who is currently working on the McDonald’s project at Markham Vale West, said, “I am very pleased to be involved in this development, which in these tough economic times will provide much needed investment to the area. The commencement of the first building on the Western site represents an important milestone and I look forward to meeting the challenge of designing and delivering the remaining plots and continuing our long standing relationship with Henry Boot Developments”.

Almost a quarter of the entire 200 acres of employment land at Markham Vale are within the Sheffield City Region Enterprise Zone, offering an anticipated boost for our local economy with around 5000 new jobs to be created. Added to the convenient location, within just 20 minutes’ drive of Sheffield, the park is an alluring prospect for national and multi-national companies such as McDonald’s.
