Psychology Department Refurbishment and Relocation, University of Sheffield

Jefferson Sheard have been commissioned by Mascot Management to provide our services in the refurbishment and relocation of The University of Sheffield Psychology Department.

The project consolidates the Faculty of Science on the main campus to create the best environment for academic development and enhance operational efficiency.

Phase 1 of the project involves the relocation of Neuroscience to the Alfred Denny building, including the installation of a new 7 Telsa Magnet, the relocation of an existing DNP unit and the provision of laboratories, offices and technical areas.

One of the challenges was to produce a design top fully meet the needs of the client and allow large specialist equipment to be installed without detriment to the existing building structure. A new roof design allowed fexibility to lower the 5 tonne 7 Telsa Magnet via a crane through the roof to sit on a bespoke design stainless steel support structure.
