Requirement:

Following Phase One of the Barnsley College project, where we consolidated the College’s main buildings onto one site, the second phase involved the creation of an ‘Urban Park’. The College wanted a community space that could be used for both the College users and the local public alike.

Our solution:

• A former college building, now redundant, was demolished to create the space for this urban community area.
• The design of the park incorporated areas of green landscaping and planted beds amongst a mix of hard landscaped areas with seating. 
• Part of the space was styled to reflect the character of an amphitheatre creating a performance space for the students.
