Requirement:

Spire Homes, part of the Longhurst Group is a key provider of quality affordable housing and care in East Northamptonshire, Rutland, Wellingborough and Milton Keynes.

Spire asked us to design and build a village development of thirty six houses, sixteen of which were for shared ownership.

Our solution

• The site at Uppingham has a cross-fall of over 20 meters.  We designed a major regrading of the site using retaining walls and heavily landscaped embankments to achieve level access to all the houses.
• Bearing in mind the scheme's village setting we gave thought to the use of traditional materials such as stone, brick and render whilst promoting modern methods of construction using insulated panel systems to achieve high levels of energy efficiency.
