Requirement:

Jefferson Sheard were appointed by Plum Developments in late 2006 for the £1million refurbishment and extension of an existing mixed use building on Edinburgh's historic Calton Road.

The former Venue night club and existing office accommodation is located within Edinburgh's New Town and the designated World Heritage Site of Edinburgh's City Centre.

Our solution:

The proposal strives to:

• reinvigorate the existing building fabric
• to remove the redundant functionality and
• to provide a viable and unique commercial build within Edinburgh's City Centre.

Working within the existing building and city fabric, elements of the building such as exposed brick and internal stone walls have been retained and enhanced with inspiring design features. A full height glazed stairwell, lift area and fully glazed top floor provide stunning views across the city and creative assets such as raised access flooring and modern lighting have resulted in the creation of a dynamic and versatile modern office space.
